Sounds ironic right? One would think that to be strong and invincible would ensure survival. The catch 22 is that when your body perceives you are at war or in 'fighting virus' mode it goes into fight mode. What does the body do in fight mode? It lowers the amount of energy going to your immune system. Vulnerability is often associated or coupled unconsciously with being relaxed. When I am relaxed I'm vulnerable to attack so I will be hypervigilant. How does this look? Iām walking down the street glaring over my mask at anyone who comes within 6 feet of me, especially if they are not wearing a mask. I may also avoid connecting with them at all.
Remember Your Rhythm
Are you go-go-go or go with the flow? How do you feel about discovering your new pace? Does it take you back to a time of childhood when you were relaxed or were you told what to do and when to do it? Are you experiencing freedom from constraints or do you miss scheduling your daily life into manageable segments?
3 Steps to Embody Your Boundaries
Having an embodied sense of a boundary will help your nervous system feel protected and safe. Most people feel a calm and relaxation once they see or feel the boundary. The boundary gives us our space, and gives us a buffer with which to engage the world. This space is yours and when you have a boundary you have the ability to say "This is my boundary, you can't come in unless I invite you."
